I’ve seen some interesting ideas for interiors from this period before but I’ve not seen an internal roof, complete with shingles! I’m not sure if it would pass fire standards today, but an interesting idea. It probably looks better with cedar shingles than the UK standard – grey slate tiles.

The part that hurts my head the most is the “lanterns.” When I look at those I am rather disturbingly swept back to elementary school, looking into a shoebox diorama created by a red-headed classmate. It’s almost encephalitic in its effect.
